September 2022
.
Chris and I started dating August 17, 2020. We actually knew each other as kids. We remember some things about that time, but neither of us can recall those memories very well. Nonetheless, we found our way back to each other after so many years! Since then, we have built a little family of our own. We have one dog, Finny, and one cat, Fish.
On September 17th, 2022 Chris’s mom Michelle had a beautiful wedding right on the lake earlier in the day. He was a groomsmen, and I was the beer girl during the ceremony! At about 7pm, Chris’s cousin announced that the bouquet toss was in a few minutes. Going to the altar, I knew what he was planning because of the huge grin and the ring box in his pocket he was very poorly hiding just before the bouquet toss. His mom counted down, turned and gave the bouquet to me. She then turned me around and Chris walked up smiling and then got down on one knee. He said “Domonique, will you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife?” I of course said yes and gave him a huge hug. The ring he proposed with is absolutely stunning. The center stone is a beautiful sapphire, Chris’s birthstone, surrounded by diamonds. I couldn’t ask for anything more special! Chris and I always talk about how we truly feel like we were made for each other, and now, we can plan to spend the rest of our lives together!

Shayeton and I, for our birthdays, had been going out to Colorado to see his family. Little did I know this year was for a slightly different reason other than just my birthday…. We started our vacation by taking Kevin and Cammie's Jeep and side by side up by Idaho Springs to do some riding in the mountains. It was my kiddos first time in Colorado. We wanted to show them the beautiful views. Kevin knew all the best spots to stop and take photos.
I got in the side by side with Shayeton. Evelyn and Emmett hopped in the Jeep with Kevin and Cammie. At our first stop, in my head I had thought, hmmm maybe this would be the perfect time for Shayeton to ask me to marry him. But after letting the kiddos explore and some photo taking, he did not. Totally okay with it. I knew someday it would happen, just maybe not this trip!
We pack up our waters and snacks but this time I get in the Jeep with Kevin and kids. Shayeton and his mom, Cammie, are now in the side by side. The second stop had the most gorgeous view but the drop off was quite steep. Of course my children decide to immediately go towards that drop off. I quickly follow them to tell them to back up.
As I'm standing looking out with my kids, Shayeton is behind me poking my lower back. Didn't think too much of it because he does it all the time. Well this time he just wouldn't stop. I turn around only to find him down on one knee. I was in complete shock that I instantly fell into him! My legs wouldn't work. I knew what he was about to ask me.
Once he caught me and I was able to sit (sorta haha), he asked me to be his forever! Easiest question I have ever answered. He was crying. I was crying. He was able to put the ring on my very shaky finger. At that point, my kiddos knew what was going on. They were smiling ear to ear! It was the most perfect, happiest feeling in the world we all were feeling.
Shayeton really out did himself for me. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect proposal. If I could relive that moment over and over, I would. He teased me before this trip that he had ordered matching earrings to my necklace he bought me that prior fall at a craft fair from Ambrosia, but they just didn't come in on time. He sure got me good because he had designed, with the help of my sister and Ambrosia of course, the ring of my dreams made by my favorite jeweler!!! Everything was perfect. I can not wait to marry this amazing man of mine!
Every year it is difficult to select only one woman who deserves an Ambrosia necklace. This Christmas season we had to select three women who truly deserved sparkle this year. These women were nominated by their friends, co-worker or mother. I pray these gifts brings a smile to their face and reflects the amazing women they truly are.
For privacy reasons, we have not shared their whole story.

The foundation of my entrepreneurial mindset was set as a kid. When you have a strong mindset, you can accomplish anything. Now, I am not saying that I am positive all the time. It is a struggle we all have to make the decision to overcome. I work at becoming a more positive person, but it is my stubbornness which got me through the tough times. If you say that I can’t do something, you better step back and I will show you that I can!
As a small business owner, you have to be tougher than any boss you ever worked for, because there will be unforeseen situations that will come up which we cannot control. If you have prepared yourself and have a tough mentality, as a small business owner you pray that you will make it through it.
For example, the jewelry industry was hit hard this year with Covid-19. Stores were forced to close their doors, gold pricing skyrocketed quickly, consumers in general buying less luxury-like items, and even worse, I know of jewelry stores which were vandalized and robbed during protests. Small business owners of all industries had to make the choice to board up their windows and doors during the storm, or take a leap of faith and step out and say- “here I am and I am not going anywhere!”
It is with a saddened heart, the second jewelry store in our city has decided to close their doors permanently. One was owned by one man and the other was a generational family-owned store. In the jewelry world, we do compete, but we also have respect for each other because we understand how dangerous and difficult this industry can be.
When I started my business I knew I wanted to be different than the standard jewelry store. Regardless of where you live, I wanted everyone to have the opportunity to custom design their own jewelry- it’s not just for the rich and famous. Traditional jewelry stores, create a stuffy-like environment when you walk in, while I wanted my Studio to feel comfortable and relaxing. While focusing on custom designs, I am able to keep my inventory costs down as jewelry stores have over a million dollars wrapped up in inventory. I also keep my overhead costs down by ordering gold, parts and gemstones only when needed which in return passes the savings onto my clients. Yes, I do think like an artist, but I needed to dust off the left side of my brain to learn how money works, investment strategies, along with understanding taxes (and many times I need aspirin to get me through it).
Copper Elements Artwork
I highly credit my business’s growth this last year to never wanting to become a big fish in a little pond. For the last six years, I traveled many weekends for art shows, events and meeting with clients throughout many states. It was exhausting at times and rewarding during others. I focused on getting my name out there and told myself that eventually it will pay off. I am starting to harvest the seeds I have planted so many years ago.
That is the hard part- waiting for your seeds to grow! We all start by planting a few seeds and expect them to grow into big beautiful trees immediately and to harvest the fruits of our labor. In reality, draughts and floods will come, birds will steal, and some seeds will just never grow. To all of my small business owners out there, keep planting your seeds. This season will pass. You have a few good seeds with deep roots and they are ready to sprout.
To everyone else, please support local businesses this holiday season. Whether they are artists, a coffee shop or a small boutique, they all have been impacted hard this year. These next couple of weeks could influence whether their doors will remain open or closed. We all love the personal service and unique finds of a small business, now it is our turn to show our appreciation.

I hope we have been able to clear up some of the stories and myths you have heard before. Comment below what you thought was a fact or what other rumors you have heard before.
]]>I was excited to start looking around at several building locations, yet I was little intimidated as basically it would be a mortgage payment (and then some) that I am responsible for. I did a lot of calculations and knew I could do it.
There were several locations that I believed to be the perfect spot! The right location, the perfect amount of space, decent rent costs... I drove past one location for months thinking, 'if it's meant to be, it will be!' (We've all had those rational thoughts before).
But it fell through. Ugh, I was upset, but I will keep on looking.
Ok, now this location is it! And it fell through.
No, this place is it! And it sold while we walked through it.
For different reasons, each location started to fall through or had its downfalls. I started to have doubts if this decision was really a good idea. I started to believe that maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't do it.
When things don't go our way, we start to come up with reasons and excuses to justify why things are not lining up or going as smoothly as we thought it should be.
'If it's meant to be, then it should happen quicker and easier!'
We rationalize and start convincing ourselves, 'I guess, this just isn't for me.' And we stand there disappointed as the door closes in front of our face and we give up.
During those couple of years of searching, I imagined what I wanted my location to look like. Big open space with a couch and big screen to custom design with my clients. High ceilings, room for a shop, my own office, and a garage to store all my show equipment. I laughed, 'a garage? How am I going to ever find a place with a garage?'
I believe if you don't envision exactly what you want, you will never get what you want. You have to daydream about it, sleep about it, and talk about it daily. Having vision is one skill my parents taught me at a very young age. I can look at a piece of jewelry, a room, or an ugly old building and see its potential.
When you envision the what if's, could be's and should be's... they will be.
Long story short, my husband found the perfect building for us. It wasn't even on the market yet. I did not see an old tired looking building, I saw the open space, high ceilings and yes, even a large garage!
We have all heard of the phrase when one door closes another one opens. I believe if one door closes, go find the key. So many times we just let an opportunity slip by and we move on.
But what if it is meant to be? What if this really could be it? Why shouldn't it be your door?
Then get to work on finding a key, bang on the door, and yell as you walk through: "THIS WILL BE!"
There are many different techniques to setting diamonds and gemstones. I am sure you have seen some of them, but are not able to name the style or be able to explain it easily. Some setting techniques can make a ring feel more modern or completely change the look of a ring and give a vintage flair.
After you learn more about the styles, names and benefits of each setting you can start to sound more like a professional jeweler!
PRONG SET
The most common type of setting is called prong setting. Imagine prongs are like miniature Hercules arms stretching out and grasping onto each side of your diamond. Prong setting is suitable for any shape and size of diamonds and provides a durable setting.
A stone is usually set into an even number of prongs from two up to eight prongs. Traditionally I set diamonds into four prongs to allow light to enter a diamond while still providing a strong setting. For diamonds less than .50-carat I recommend only four prongs as more prongs can cover too much of the diamond’s surface and make it appear smaller in size.
V-PRONG SET
This style of setting is specifically for diamonds with sharp corners. Prongs traditionally are created in a round shape, while v-prongs create a v shape to cover the points of a diamond. These prongs provide a durable and protective setting for larger princess and marquise shaped diamonds. The angular shape helps emphasize the corners of these beautiful diamonds. If you like the look of round prongs, don’t worry as they are just as durable for angular shaped diamonds.
PAVE SET
Pavé, (pronounced pa-vey) setting comes from the word pave. Imagine paving a road with diamonds. That is exactly what a pavé setting looks like; only we are paving your jewelry with a bunch of little diamonds! This glittery style of setting uses many little round diamonds and set them very close together with tiny prongs to hold them in place. It gives the illusion of very little gold and lots of diamonds. If you love sparkle, this is the style for you! Make sure to be diligent with your six month check ups and to not be too hard on your jewelry as these are very small prongs holding your diamonds in place.
CHANNEL SET
Round and princess cut diamonds can easily be channel set into many styles of rings. When creating this style of setting, a channel groove is cut into the ring and the diamonds are set flush to the surface of the gold. This provides a very smooth and durable setting.
Channel setting gives jewelry a clean and modern feel to the design. I recommend this style to clients who work a lot with their hands and are rough on jewelry. Since the diamonds are set into the ring and have thicker gold on each side, channel set stones can withstand a little more wear and tear.
BEZEL SET
This clean style of setting cups around the diamond to give a smooth and durable setting. A full bezel can give a ring a very contemporary look as a half bezel can give a softer appearance. I love setting many diamonds into a half bezel as the design wraps around the diamond. This also allows more light to enter a diamond for brilliance and sparkle. We can custom make a bezel to fit any shape and size of gemstone or diamond.
GYPSY OR FLUSH SET
This unique style of setting gives any jewelry a fun and contemporary appearance. A diamond or gemstone is set into a perfectly shaped hole and allows the stone to be flush to the surface of the gold ring. We set the stones with similar techniques and tools as bezel settings. The diamonds can be set randomly onto a ring, into a unique pattern or add a couple of colored gemstones as accent pieces. Traditionally we set round diamonds or gemstones when looking at a flush setting.
BEAD SET
If a channel setting and a prong setting had a baby, they would call it bead set. The diamonds are held in with little prongs, but the diamond and the prongs are set down into a channel. This gives a smooth and strong setting for little accent diamonds. I enjoy using this style to give jewelry a little vintage flair. We can make the channel edges smooth for a clean look or add a beaded filigree edge for a more vintage feel.
BAR SET
The bar setting is the little sister to the channel set and wish they could grow up to be just like her. One diamond is set into a little channel made just to its size. The main diamond can be placed into a bar setting or bar spacers can be created in between each small accent diamond. Princess cut diamonds are a great shape to use with bar settings as it creates a smooth and streamlined look.
FRENCH SET
Just the name of this style of setting makes any ring sound fancy! A french set is taking the prong set up a notch. Round accent diamonds are set side by side with little prongs and have a scalloped edge along the gallery. It gives the ring a romantic and delicate look, while revealing more of the diamond. Your diamonds are sure to sparkle and look beautiful in a french set.
TENSION SETTING
If you are drawn towards modern and contemporary jewelry, then this may be the setting style for you. A diamond is suspended in between a gap of a ring or pendant. It is open underneath the stone to give the illusion of it just floating in air. This style of setting is recommended only for hard gemstones and diamonds as they need to be durable for this open design. I love the look of the tension set, but I will hide a small bracket or brace underneath the stone. This adds a little more strength as it keeps the ring from spreading open or moving while being worn.
As you can see, taking any shape of a diamond and using different setting techniques can completely change the look and feel of a ring’s design. While working with Ambrosia, we can mix and match the setting styles to create something unique that you will love for many years to come.

]]>Whatever your personality is, your diamond can reflect your inner goddess. Read below about each diamond shape to see if you are wearing the correct diamond.
ROUND DIAMOND
The round diamond is the most popular diamond shape, representing approximately 75% of all diamonds sold. These brilliant diamonds reflect the most amount of light and sparkle due to its perfectly symmetrical shape. A round diamond is loved by many women who reflect a timeless and classic style.
Women who are attracted to this popular diamond are a genuine people-person. They deeply care about their family and friends and are there when they are needed the most. The greatest characteristics of round diamond wearers are their listening and communication skills. With these skills, they are able to read people easily and spot a phony right away. They may be easy going, but watch out as you do not want to lie or cross the line with a round diamond lover!
These team-oriented women are effective managers and leaders in their careers. Round diamond wearers work hard to balance the harmony at home or in the workplace. They are the mediator to make sure everyone is doing their part to help with the success of the team.
“My style is timeless” - I am a Round Diamond
PRINCESS DIAMOND
Square shaped diamonds were cut for the princesses of this world! The princess cut diamond was first introduced in 1980 and has become a popular choice for engagement rings. Princess cut diamonds can be cut in a perfectly square shape or a slight rectangular shape and women who love princess cut diamonds will notice the difference!
Others may call these women perfectionists, but they just know what they want! Princess cut diamond wearers love the little design features in jewelry and have an eye for detail. It may take some extra time to design their wedding ring, but when it's right- it is perfect!
These ‘get the job done’ kind of women are drawn towards structure and to-do lists to help them stay on track to reach their goals. You can always count on a princess cut diamond fan as they are reliable and loyal to their family and friends. Yes they may be competitive and hard working, but they will meet your expectations and get the job done.
“Get out of my way and watch me make things happen!” I am a Princess Cut Diamond.
OVAL DIAMOND
Oval shaped diamonds has been a popular choice for engagement rings and colored gemstones. The shape was introduced in the late 1950-1960's and creates a timeless look. This beautiful shape looks fabulous in any style of jewelry and is making a comeback in engagement ring designs.
Oval diamond wearers are ones to design a classic engagement ring to compliment their unique style. Their style is not too crazy or trendy. It is a distinct, yet a traditional look. Their engagement ring design may have been influenced by their mother’s wedding ring or an old family heirloom.
These creative and spirited women are dependable and maybe a little predictable. But watch out! Every now and then they like to experience life a little on the crazy side. Their persuasiveness and captivating personality may draw you in to do something a little daring too! Oval diamond lovers are easy to get along with as you cannot help but fall in love with their bright personality and warm hearts.
“Let’s jump in together!” - I am an Oval Diamond.
CUSHION DIAMOND
Cushion shaped diamonds were cut for the royalty and are seen in many antique rings. This brilliant diamond can be found in a square or rectangular shape with rounded corners. This vintage style of diamond gives any ring a soft and romantic vibe, loved by many classic women of today.
The cushion diamond is cherished by women who live in a romantic fairytale. Their heads are always up in the clouds as they daydream about what their story holds for their future. If a woman is attracted to this diamond, she considers herself strong, dependable and strives to be a team player. Her personal relationships with family and friends are her greatest joys.
Cushion diamond wearers have a warm and soft soul which compliments the diamond’s rounded pillow shape. When custom designing for cushion diamond lovers, focus on a timeless look. These women have a traditional, classic and ageless style.
“I am the author of my own fairy tale.” I am a Cushion Diamond.
MARQUISE DIAMOND
The marquise diamond was a popular choice in the 1980’s and is making its appearance back into the jewelry industry. This football-shaped or eye-shaped diamond is known for creating a larger illusion compared to other diamonds of the same carat weight. The marquise diamond is perfect for the woman who has the ‘go big or go home’ personality!
When custom designing for a marquise diamond lover, you can never have enough sparkle. They want to express their unique and creative personality through design. If the ring makes a grand entrance before you, then the design is perfect!
The points on each end of the marquise diamond reflect a woman's strong and bold personality. These creative women are ones who are always thinking about a new way to do something. Some may claim they are a little disorganized or have a short attention span, but really it is just their mind racing with new ideas!
“My favorite color is sparkle.” - I am a Marquise Diamond.
TRIANGLE / TRILLION DIAMOND
Triangle and trillion diamonds are similar in shape, yet have a very distinct look. A triangle diamond will have straight edges while a trillion cut diamond will have slight rounded edges to give a softer appearance. Women who love this modern shaped diamond are confident in themselves as they don’t follow the crowd. They make their own fashion statements!
Trillion cut diamonds are not the most popular shape used in jewelry, but that is why their fans adore them. They are proud of their uniqueness and are not afraid to show it off. When custom designing jewelry they want something that no one else has!
Trillion cut diamond lovers are decisive and love making bold moves. These task-oriented women think quickly and are not afraid to be in a power position. As a leader, they do well under pressure and are able to stay focused on the end goal. Of course they are ambitious and competitive because they desire to be recognized for their hard work and they don’t mind showing it off to family and friends.
“Keep this conversation short, I have places to be and things to do.” I am a Triangle Diamond.
PEAR DIAMOND
Pear shaped diamonds or also known as teardrop diamonds can make a bold or traditional look to any engagement ring. Women who are drawn towards pear shaped diamonds are happy to take a classic style of ring and add their unique personality to the design.
The marquise diamond wearers want to be the life of the party, the oval diamonds want to be towards the back of the party, while the pear diamond wearers love hosting the party. They enjoy being around others and sharing their adventurous stories. You cannot help but fall in love with their passion, spontaneous personality and kind heart.
When custom designing for the pear diamond lovers, they may lean towards a traditional style, but will add a modern twist. They have a creative spirit and are always asking ‘what if?’ While working with others, they will have several fabulous ideas to always make the design a little bit better.
“Life is too short for boring.” - I am a Pear Diamond.
HEART DIAMOND
The heart cut diamond is overlooked by many, and loved only by the purest of hearts. This unique shaped diamond is rarely used in engagement rings, but if cut proportionally it will have an amazing brilliance. A woman who is drawn towards heart shaped diamonds is more than just a hopeless romantic.
This symbolic shape reflects the love and passion a woman has for her soulmate and family. She is sensitive and pure of heart. This woman is always thinking of others and goes out of her way to give a lending hand. She aims to please people while keeping the peace and harmony in the family or workplace.
Yes heart diamond lovers wear their heart on their sleeve, but they are also not afraid to show their flaws to those she can trust. She is who she is and wants her jewelry to reflect her personality. When custom designing jewelry for this woman, focus on a classic design with a touch of modern flair.
“I am waiting for my Prince Charming.” - I am a Heart Diamond.
RADIANT / EMERALD DIAMOND
These rectangular shaped diamonds each have a very distinctive look. Emerald cut diamonds are step cut which creates an open table and crystal clear view through the diamond. As a radiant diamond is cut to give brilliance of a princess cut but with an elongated shape. Women who love the long rectangular shaped diamonds are ones who strive to grow to become a better person.
These adventurous women are seeking and exploring new ways in which they can grow and develop. They don’t need the approval of others as they have a good sense of who they are and where they are going.
When designing jewelry for rectangle shape diamond fans, they are open to new ideas. They are curious what improvements can be made and are willing to accept design suggestions. These women are never pushy nor are they afraid to voice their opinions as they are not easily offended. Instead they will ask more questions and clarification so they can see the whole picture.
Rectangle cut diamond wearers encourage and inspire their family and friends to not be afraid of change. Instead they see change as a way to create a new and exciting story to share with others.
“Embrace change and take a chance!” I am an Emerald or Radiant diamond.

May 2020
Jacob and I have been together for over a year and a half and have been talking about getting married for about a year. We knew we were meant to be together! Jacob planned a day in downtown Hudson, Wisconsin with a few of our friends at the end of May. We had a picnic and were going to take pictures on the boardwalk. We started walking down the pier when Jacob pulled me aside and told me how much he loved me. We asked my brother to take a few pictures of us. Jacob said that ever since the first time we came to Hudson, about a year ago, he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He had been praying about this for a while and knew this is what God wanted for us. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We are so excited to start this new journey and to spend the rest of our lives together.

]]>When a custom jewelry piece is cast, it is not pretty. The metal is dull, dingy and rough. Let’s be honest, it looks like our 6th grade picture where your older sister decided to give you bangs the night before (because you would look so good with them), your skin is all blotchy due to not having YouTube to learn how to cover up a zit, and you have an awkward smile because well... you were just an awkward child at that age. You’d say that you were a little rough around the edges.
Each jewelry piece is also rough around the edges at first. It takes time to look good! We first start by using a metal file to remove the gold nub from where it was casted. Each jewelry piece has a stick or a spru attached to the bottom of the ring for casting purposes.
Next we use several grits of sandpaper to remove the rough edges. Our sandpaper is wrapped around a wooden stick to give a flat surface to work with. The stiff sandpaper prevents a wavy or uneven finish to the gold surface. You don’t want to file off more on one side versus the other.
Each piece is cast from a wax mold which has lines created from the 3D printer. All of these lines must be removed. You start with a smaller number of sandpaper (coarse) and work your way up the larger numbers to provide a smoother finish. There is a film-like coating over the whole jewelry piece from casting, so you want to make sure every part is sanded. If you miss an area, you will notice a haziness to the ring when it is completed.
A big difference that makes our handcrafted jewelry stand out compared to mass-produced jewelry is that we hand polish every prong prior to setting diamonds or gemstones. Gold is very reflective and will act like a mirror for your diamonds which allows them to sparkle more. Surprisingly many mass-produced jewelry are cast with the diamonds already set in place, so the gold is never polished under or around the stones.
Those hard to reach places. You know what I am talking about when you are cleaning your house. Who really moves the couch every single time to clean? Well with jewelry we don’t skip those hard to reach places. We have special rubber wheels, rubber points and shoe laces to get in every little corner and detail. Yes shoe laces! A little trick I learned from my internship.
Last we use a polishing wheel and rouge to give the whole ring a good polishing.
Whoa! All of that and we haven’t even started sizing the ring, soldering parts together or setting the diamonds! We pride ourselves on taking the time needed for each jewelry piece we handcraft. Its the little steps that our clients notice when we reveal their final masterpiece. Anything worthwhile cannot be rushed. It takes time, patience and the ability to see past the rough edges.

]]>POPULAR GEMSTONE ENGAGEMENT RINGS
So if you are looking to create something unique or want to express yourself through color, then a non-traditional engagement ring may be what you are looking for. I have custom designed numerous engagement rings with a main colored gemstone, added accents of colored gemstones or set small little birthstones for each the husband and the wife on the side of the ring.
Click here to view more photos of this ring
There are great benefits for deciding to custom design with a colored gemstone:
In many situations a diamond may be more out of pocket, so you can use the savings to add diamond accents or hand select a larger gemstone. With a large rock on your finger, you are sure to feel like a celebrity!
There are a few downsides when selecting a gemstone for an engagement ring. Since wedding rings are worn almost daily, you do have to take some precautions when selecting and wearing a gemstone.
Click here to view more photos of this ring
I share with my clients that as long as you take your ring off while doing dishes, cleaning, working out, or outdoor activities then a colored gemstone will be a perfect choice. (I also recommend taking your ring off for these activities even with diamonds!) So I have a few gemstones that I would recommend for any engagement ring based on their durability and strength.
These gemstones are great options as well, just a little softer on the gemstone hardness scale. As a reminder, don’t use normal jewelry cleaner to clean colored gemstones. Many cleaners are too harsh. Check out my favorite cleaner for all gemstones including opals and pearls.
CAN YOU HELP ME DESIGN A UNIQUE, YET DURABLE ENGAGEMENT RING?
Of course! Depending on the color you are looking for, I will suggest the perfect gemstone as your main stone or add an accent of color. Feel free to contact me and I will provide a free estimate and design suggestions on creating the perfect engagement ring.
Don't forget to take a look at my custom design photo gallery to view a few of the many engagement rings I have created with colored gemstones.

The nomination letter from her friend Emily-
I am nominating my friend, Stacey from North Dakota for the Ambrosia Necklace (what a fabulous tradition, by the way).
Stacey is an extremely strong woman but could use some sparkle in her life.
About a year ago, while her husband John, my boyfriend, and I were in Texas working, John suffered a massive stroke. I called Stacey right after it happened, and she immediately flew down from North Dakota. We were there with her when the doctors told her that his chances of survival were slim; after John shook those odds and passed the dangerous window of time, we were there with her when the doctors said his ability to walk and talk would most likely be minimal; we were there when Stacey learned the love of her life would never have the same capabilities he had had his entire life and throughout their entire marriage.
Through all of this, Stacey remained steadfast and strong. Privately, she told me how terrified she was, how sad she was, and how unfair she thought it was. She stood strong for her husband though and told him he would learn to walk and talk again—no matter what.
John and Stacey are one of most perfect couples—the kind of couple people think only exist in books or movies. Even after years and years of marriage, they still look at each other full of love. They are also just good people—and would do anything for anyone—simply for the joy of helping others. They complement each other perfectly, and are both strong—individually—and for/ with each other.
It was just a couple days after the massive stroke where John was walking in the hospital. The doctors were beyond surprised and impressed—and said it was short of a miracle that it would ever happen—let alone as fast as it did. Stacey kept cheering John on through this time. His speech improved, but it would become John’s biggest obstacle to overcome—even today.
After eventually being released from the hospital, they resumed life in North Dakota. Stacey became John’s full time caretaker where she helped drive him to his different weekly therapy sessions that he had in different cities. John still struggles to speak and be understood to this day, but slow progress is occurring—largely because of Stacey’s unwavering support for John.
When I ask privately as Stacey how she is doing, she says fine but becomes exhausted—and has felt that hospitals and therapy centers are their new life and her only purpose in life now. I remind her that John would not have come this far without her, and as their friend, I appreciate everything she does for him—and how strong she is, for him.
Although she is a strong woman, I do believe everyone has weak moments. That is why I believe the necklace would be appreciated by Stacey—I want her to know that her purpose is beyond being John's caretaker--and when she wore the necklace, that she could be reminded that others see the strength she has; how completely selfless she is; and how even when presented with a challenge, she lives her wedding vows of still standing by John and loving him “for better or worse…in sickness and in health.” The necklace could serve as a symbol to her of her strength and love for John—and that no matter, you can always find a little “sparkle,” even in the darkest of places.

Chris and I met through Omaha Love. It’s not online dating but local matchmakers who share profiles with you and set you up on dates. Our first date was August 3, 2018. Both of us admit that it wasn’t love at first sight for either of us, but I knew he was different than other guys when he asked me to text him when I made it home. From then on, we spent every possible day together, which wasn’t much due to Chris’s crazy work schedule.
If anyone knows me, I’m a planner. So it probably wouldn’t surprise you to know that I had half the wedding booked and planned before actually saying YES. About a week before he proposed, I was 95% sure I knew the day. Now the only question was how… I gave Chris such a hard time the night before and throughout the day trying to get any information that I could. We drove for about 2 hours to South Sioux City, Nebraska where we had a very nice dinner at a steakhouse. Our booth was right next to the fireplace and overlooked the Missouri River.
After dinner, we got back in the car and drove to Ponca, Nebraska to see a house featured on the Great Christmas Light Fight. Once we arrived at the house, we took our time walking around the yard and through the house. As we were getting ready to leave, Chris stopped me and started to say that his greatest regret in life was not trying to get to know me when he saw me back at UNL but that fate had brought us back together. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES! Let me tell you, Chris did a beautiful job designing, yes DESIGNING, my ring with Ambrosia. It is absolutely perfect and I’m excited to see what the future is going to hold.

The next morning, John had passed away unexpectedly. Patty’s lucky day immediately turned into a hard week of planning a funeral and losing her best friend. As she was driven to John’s funeral, Patty’s friend pointed out how her vehicle was completely surrounded by butterflies. It was like John was sending her a little message showing that he was still with her that day. Patty loves butterflies as she had a butterfly tattoo with a modified infinity symbol to represent her longtime friendship with her three best girl friends.
-
Design Details:
John and Patty’s wedding rings were melted together to be casted into a custom ring designed with special meaning. Patty’s original diamonds were removed and reset into a smooth bezel to provide a durable setting for her busy lifestyle. The shape of Patty’s butterfly tattoo was engraved on the side of the ring along with an anchor representing John’s career in the Navy and his love for boating. On the outside edges, the double weave design signifies their 20+ years of marriage together. Lastly, John’s favorite number was four and is represented by four infinity designs. The infinity symbol had a special meaning for John and Patty as their “love will last to infinity and beyond.”
“This ring means so much to me. After losing John, I continued to wear my wedding band along with his, either around my neck or on my thumb. John and I were soul mates and best friends. Losing him so early in his life was/still is very hard. I loved meeting with Ambrosia. She listened to my little love story and took all the important meanings and incorporated them in my gorgeous new ring.”

Patty it was a pleasure working together on this very special piece. We shared in a few tears together, but I hope this ring will bring a smile to your face when you remember all of the good times you and John had together.

Last summer I went on a trip to Alaska with one of my best friends. When we flew back, Nolan met us close to the airport and was going to drop me off to spend time with my aunt and grandma for a week. After eating dinner with my aunt, uncle, and Grandma, Nolan asked my aunt to take our picture. When I turned around Nolan was down on his knee and he asked me to marry him! We had talked about getting married for a while and Nolan knew I wanted Ambrosia to make my wedding ring, but he wanted me to be able to design it with her. Without me knowing he had been conspiring with my best friend and she had the ring he proposed with the entire time we were in Alaska.

About a month prior to our engagement, Daniel confronted me asking if he could take me on a trip to Colorado for my graduation present. Little did I know, that we would begin the trip as boyfriend and girlfriend but come home as an engaged couple!
Our first day in Colorado, we went hiking in the Rocky Mountains, specifically hiking the Emerald Lake trail. It was a 3.6 mile round trip trail with an ending elevation of 10,110 feet. We hiked the icy and snowy trails, laughing along the way as we slipped and fell numerous times. When we reached our destination of Emerald Lake, Daniel asked a person to take picture of us, which we had been doing throughout the hike. I thought it was just another picture.
As we posed for the picture in front of the beautiful mountain landscape, all of a sudden Daniel stepped aside, looked me in the eyes, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. With overjoyed, tearful eyes and a wide-spread smile on my face, I said yes to the love of my life in the beautiful scenery of the Rocky Mountains!

Scott and I met in college at the University of South Dakota. After dating for almost 8 years, he finally asked me to marry him!
Scott and I traveled to Kansas City, Missouri, to attend a Kansas City Royals baseball game with some friends. The next day when we woke up for the game, we noticed that it had snowed. We weren’t going to let cold weather scare us away from the game, so we dressed in multiple layers and headed to Kauffman Stadium. When we arrived and entered the stadium, we heard the announcer over the intercom state, “today’s game has been postponed due to inclement weather.” I turned to Scott and said, “now what are we going to do?” Scott replied, “well, we are in here (Kaufman Stadium), might as well walk down and see our seats and take a few pictures.”
We made our way to our assigned seats and started taking pictures. After a few pictures, our friend said to Scott, “why don’t you change up your pose?” I looked at our friends confused. When I turned back to look at Scott, he was down on one knee!
Scott then said, “Mallory, will you marry me?”
I said, “YES! Finally!”

]]>I am excited to announce Katy was nominated by several friends to be given a very special gift -an Ambrosia Druzy Necklace. Katy has been an inspiration to friends and a warrior for her family throughout the journey of Cancer and other private personal matters. I pray this gift brings a smile to her face and reflects the amazing woman she truly is.
A message from Katy of Sioux City, IA:
So I haven’t even posted about this yet, because I’m still in shock. About a week ago, my dear friend Renae asked me to remind her of my address. Thinking it was for a Christmas card, I was happy to oblige. And then a few days ago, this came in the mail. To say I was stunned, humbled and thankful are understatements x 10.
2016 sucked. 2017 got better. And then 2018 happened and it truly was the worst year of my life. In a 2.5 year time frame when I kept saying things couldn’t get much worse, the last 6 months got much much worse. And if it wasn’t for my family and friends (and of course, the two little ones I get to tuck into bed most nights) I don’t know how I’d have made it through.
There are too many to name. To many friends and family that have reached out with open arms and open hearts. In this case though, 3 friends got together and nominated me to win a contest held by a local artist/jeweler. And somehow, I won. Their kind words won me a beautiful prize. And more importantly, their kind words made me feel strong and loved. And MOST importantly, when I was sobbing, reading the letter and let Mady read it, she looked at me and said, “well, you ARE all these things.”
I make mistakes. I screw things up. I worry too much. I have a lot of flaws both emotionally and physically. But there are people out there that still love me and see me for the person I strive to be. My daughter sees me for who I strive to be. I may not be perfect, but I’m loved. Still. I will survive all of this.
Thank you Renae, Julie and Rebekah. You three mean the world to me. And thank you to Ambrosia for the beautiful gift. The picture just doesn’t do the necklace justice. Now I need a place to wear it! The school carpool line isn’t nearly fancy enough!

August 2018
Chance had planned a trip for us to go to Colorado. It didn’t take much convincing to go. I enjoy the mountains and hiking. Our first night there, we went up the mountain trail Trail Ridge Road. But with me getting motion sick, we turned around. Chance later told me he wanted to ask me at the top of the mountain. The next day he surprised me with a day full of hiking. We hiked to a lake surrounded by mountain peaks and we found a spot that was a boulder in the water. I was looking the other way and when I looked at him, he had the ring out and he asked me to marry him. I told him if he were to ever to propose to me to make sure it’s a ring from a local business. Shopping small and local means a lot to me. I honestly was so shocked to see such a beautiful ring. I didn’t think he would have put as much thought as he did into making a personalized ring for me and I am so incredibly happy that he did.

Custom floral engagement ring featuring Jess's favorite flowers, orchids & dog paws to represent their dogs!
We will be married on August 31, 2019 at A View in Fontenelle Hills in Bellevue, NE.
Joe and I were married on March 24 about 2 years after our first date. I may be biased, but I loved
that day and would do it again! Even though it snowed that morning, it was filled with our family, friends, and pieces of ourselves. We wanted the day to be relaxed and fun for all. We had a life-size board game, signature smoothies, and an amazing introduction video.
Our engagement was also very special to us. Joe asked my sisters to suggest a family gathering at my house. I love spending time with my family and took the bait so easily. It just happened that my birthday was the only day they could all come to Sioux City. Through "my" planning for this gathering, I invited Joe's mom, sister, and his two closest friends and their families. Joe hid part of the proposal in a birthday gift. When I registered what was happening, I screamed and then Joe presented to me a ring our friend, Ambrosia, and he had designed--including parts of my grandma's ring. It was beautiful! After a few minutes, it was revealed to me that everyone present was aware Joe was going to propose. I had no suspicions it was going to happen that day but I am happy it did.
