Fashion show to be highlight of 2015 Bridal Fair

The road from proposal to the pronouncement of marriage is filled with a plethora of preparation and if there’s a wedding in your near future, it’s not too early to start planning. The ring, the gown, the ceremony, and don’t forget the reception all take time. They all require planning

Brides to be — and their betrothed — will be able to do some one-stop, multi-shop pursuing of a variety of services for their big day. Dozens of vendors will be part of the annual Bridal Fair ®, set for 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24 at the Marina Inn Hotel & Convention Center in South Sioux City.

Brides-to-be can pre-register for the event online and not only receive a discount on admission and save themselves some time on the day of the event, the brides-to-be will be entered to win a Limo ride to the Bridal Fair® as part of the Lap of Luxury Giveaway.

The Lap of Luxury Giveaway will include a Limo ride to and from the Bridal Fair® courtesy of Travel Plus Limo, an Engagement Photo Session by Shane Monahan Photography, a Photo booth rental from Izzon Photobooth, and a Wedding Package by Jolly Time Koated Kernals. The package is valued at $1,800. Entries for the drawing will be taken through Noon on Friday, January 23 and the winner will be announced at 2 p.m.

Bridal Fair ®, through its website and intensive advertising campaigns run by its licensed stations, Bridal Fair, Inc., through its licensees, offers a total marketing approach to brides and new-forming households unequaled by any other bridal event. According to its website Bridal Fair ® has presented events to over four million brides and their guests, making it the show with the largest impact and longest running event of its kind in North America.

The annual event brings, on average, 1,500 people to South Sioux City to partake in the celebratory event.

The event will once again showcase the fashion show put on last year by former Sioux City area native and Linda Layman Agency’s fashion show booker/producer Wendi Johnson. The Linda Layman Modeling Agency was founded in 1971 and is most famous for discovering the talent of Amber Valletta at the age of 15.

The modeling agency will be bringing a group of talented female models from Tulsa, Okla., who will be modeling wedding gowns from David’s Bridal. The male models, which will be featured in tuxedoes from Tip Top Tux, will be local talent. This year’s fashion show will be shown in New York-style. The show will glide from one scene to the next with only minor commentary telling who is being showcased during the particular scene. This style of show will allow the event goers to partake in the excitement of what it would be like to be at a show during fashion week in New York.

A new feature to this year’s Bridal Fair ® show is local jeweler and businesswoman Ambrosia Slothower. Slothower owns and operates two jewelry-based businesses, Ambrosia, a custom-designed jewelry business and Borrow For Tomorrow a high-end jewelry rental business. According to the website Borrow For Tomorrow provides an affordable alternative to enjoying and wearing luxurious jewelry.

“Working with so many women on designing their engagement rings and then helping them find jewelry for their wedding and things like that,” said Slothower when asked about how the idea behind Borrow for Tomorrow came about. “Weddings cost so much and people want to wear the fine jewelry for their wedding but because the wedding costs so much finding ways to save money any way you can is important. So Borrow For Tomorrow can provide a way for them to save money but still wear the high-end fine jewelry they want. They just borrow it for that certain amount of time and get the look they want at a fraction of the cost.”

Some of the jewelry that is available to borrow has been worn by celebrities such as Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson on the Apprentice and actress Mindy Kaling from the TV series The Mindy Project.

Brides-to-be interested in wearing high-end jewelry for much less than the cost can browse the online store and reserve their selected pieces for less than 20 percent of the actual cost. They can also view a portion of the jewelry available during the fashion show at The Bridal Fair ® where several of the models will feature jewelry from Borrow for Tomorrow’s line.

“The fashion show is going to be phenomenal,” said Slothower. “I talked to the coordinator and they’re going to have DJs set up the music and there are going to be around 25 to 30 models for the show. It’s going to be pretty fun and I am really looking forward to it.”

The fashion show will be presented at noon. Before and after the show brides will have the opportunity to meet with area vendors who will be on hand to help them plan their special day from the gown, to the cake, to the invitations. There will also be vendors to help with the travel plans for the bride and groom’s honeymoon. The fashion show will also feature honeymoon wear by Southern Hills Younkers for both the bride and groom.

Two more new features that brides-to-be will want to check out while at the Bridal Fair ® are the new website,www.weddingstoriessiouxland.com, which is still in the beta testing stages and Heartland Chiropractic Care. Heartland Chiropractic Care will be on hand.

“A lot of people are saying ‘What’s a chiropractor doing a bridal event?’” said Bridal Fair ® President Bruce Thiebauth. “Well women who are entering childbearing age, it’s a good time for them to become aware of spinal problems that can result later in life. Heartland Chiropractic will be on hand to provide those brides-to-be a health consultation about their bone structure.”

This will be the first time a chiropractor has been a vendor at the Bridal Fair® in South Sioux City. Other local vendors that will be on hand include: Acoustix Entertainment, All About Travel, Bridestar Cookware, Celebrity China & Cookware, Complete Nutrition, Famous Dave’s, Galaxie Productions, Hy-Vee, It Works, Izaak Walton Center, Izzon Photobooth, Jolly Time Koated Kernels, Kahill’s Restaurant, Mary Kay, Men’s Wearhouse, Metabolic Research Center, Phaze One Entertainment, Shane Monahan Photography, Sugar Mama Sweet Shop, Thorpe & Company Jewelers, Tip Top Tux, Travel Plus Limousines, and Younique Beauty.

All the best you need to ensure wardrobe, travel, lodging, music, and food needs will be represented properly at your upcoming nuptials.
