Barb & Anne's Engagement Story

 

Anne and I have been together for 10 months. Our relationship and love for each other is stronger each day.

 

In February 2018, we planned a trip to Palm Springs, California. Anne had been there several times, for me, it was my first visit. The way she described Palm Springs to me sounded calming, beautiful with mountains all around.

Not knowing Palm Springs, I was not sure where or when I was going to propose to Anne. I carried the ring in the box in my pants pocket every day waiting for the right romantic place and moment. The days were going by and the right place was not happening. We had bad/chilly weather, changed plans on sightseeing, and then finally a couple days before we were heading back home, we drove to Joshua Tree National Park and stopped at several roadside views then stopped at Barker Dam to take 1.1-mile hike through the desert and rocks to a water dam and lake built by early cattle ranchers. The views were breathtaking, weather was a little windy and the sun was out. As we got a little deeper into the trail, the trail weaved around into the rocks and no one else was around. I had Anne stop and I got down on my knee and proposed to her. We will cherish this happy, most wonderful moment the rest of our lives, and I will be with the love of my life forever.

We are planning a 2019 wedding.
